Welcome to HOMESEEKERS, the choice based lettings scheme for Council and Housing Association properties in Tower Hamlets.

Do I have the option to bid for a property smaller than
my assessed (or 'ideal') bedroom need?

To ease any financial hardship that the Welfare Reforms may cause some families, households will now have the option to bid for a property smaller than their assessed bedroom need (as defined by the Tower Hamlets Allocations Scheme).

You will still be able to bid for the size of property that we have assessed your household as requiring, but you now have the choice to bid for a property which is one bedroom and one bed space smaller than what you ideally need, subject to this not causing statutory overcrowding.

PLEASE NOTE:  If you bid and are housed to a property that is smaller than your assessed need and then make a transfer application for rehousing you will then start with a new registration date i.e. you will lose your previous waiting time on the housing register.

WHAT IS HOUSING MOVES?

  

Housing Moves is the Mayor of London's housing mobility scheme that allows tenants of London boroughs or housing associations to move outside their existing borough to a different part of London. It is run by the Greater London Authority and the majority of London boroughs and housing associations are participating.

We are happy to announce that the Council and its Common Housing Register partners joined Housing Moves on 8th October 2012.  Tenants are now able to register on the scheme to move out of Tower Hamlets.

All homes that have undergone an access survey are included on the Accessible Housing Register, and categorised according to the London Accessible Housing Register categories:

Category A - Wheelchair Accessible
Category B - Partially Wheelchair Accessible
Category C - Lifetime Homes
Category D - Easy Access
Category E - Step Free
Category F - General Housing
Category G - Home not yet assessed
